We will be going over how to prepare models for FDM and SLA printers, different production lines and things you never thought would matter. Going over the setup for statues, props and articulation for your 3D prints. I will show you what it takes and how preparation can save you time and money moving forward with the collectibles industry.
What does it take to go from digital to a printed part? This course will dive deep into the two more common printing methods. I will show you how to prepare your models for printing and production. You will also learn what you should look for to make the printing method flow with the least amount of difficulty. Plus, I will show you how to overcome the limitations of printers and software.

Overview of FDM and SLA Printers
We’ll be discussing two types of 3D printers, FDM and SLA. We’ll go over how 3D printing work and why it relates to the product you’ll want to print.
Types of Cuts and Keys
We’ll start with the “Straight Cut” and then move into the “Cuff Cut”. We’ll talk about their placement and go over making a custom tool to achieve this in a production pipeline.
The Basics of FDM Cutting
We’ll create a standardized tool kit for FDM. Pins and cuts and preparation.
How to Cut-up a Model for Over-sized Prints
We’ll be going over cut up principle for over-sized prints. Looking at how the Statue of Liberty was built.
Setting Up Sprue and Support
We’ll look at handmade supports, sprue channels, as well as looking at ChiTu box, and Cura.
Integrating joints for toys into a model and where to find them.
